A trip to Pompeii is an amazing experience that takes you back to ancient Rome and provides a chilling look into the tragic incident that altered the path of history forever.
It was a strange and humble experience to stroll through the historic streets of Pompeii, which were preserved by the ash and lava from Mount Vesuvius’ eruption. It is astounding to see the size of the city with its well-preserved villas and ruins. We wondered what life was like for the people who lived in this city more than two millennia ago, and every step we took felt like a trip into the past.

Seeing the commonplace objects and traces of daily life preserved in time is one of the most moving parts of visiting Pompeii. The city provides a window into the lives of common people who lived and died here centuries ago, from the ruins of old bakeries and taverns to the eerie plaster casts of the city’s citizens captured in their last moments. It serves as a sobering reminder of both nature’s power and the frailty of life.
Pompeii nevertheless exudes a spirit of resiliency and perseverance despite the tragedy and devastation. The city has been painstakingly excavated and preserved, allowing visitors to engage with its rich history and cultural heritage, despite being buried beneath layers of ash and debris for centuries.
